As you explore Turku region from the seat of a saddle you can get much more up close and personal than by bus or by car. Pedal at your own pace along amazing routes and discover new places outside of the central areas. Many of you will be surprised at the stunning scenery and attractions many of the cycling routes pass through.
Where should you cycle first? Ruissalo, Hirvensalo or perhaps the enchanting landscapes of the River Aura? Take a look at the routes and let them speak for themselves.
Route 1 – River Aura Riverside Route
Route 2 – Ruissalo Tour
Embark on a leisurely bike ride to Turku's verdent oasis, Ruissalo Island. In addition to the unique nature, Ruissalo offers interesting cultural sites and a wide range of activities.
Length: about 35 km
Duration: Takes 2-3 hours of leisurely pedaling, but spend plenty of time to stop and enjoy the tranquility
Difficulty level: Easy
Route 3 – Hirvensalo Tour
Stroll in the relaxing atmosphere of the Hirvensalo countryside, just a stone’s throw from central Turku, and enjoy several major attractions along the way.
Length: approx. approx. 29 km (or approx. 21 km without deviations)
Duration: approx. 2 hours (calm pace)
Difficulty level: Easy / Medium. The route includes some hills. If the ascents are a problem, an electric bike is a great and easy alternative.
Route 4 – A Tour to Kakskerta
Jump on your bike and enjoy the archipelago atmosphere, beautiful nature and the peace of the countryside. There are also interesting sights along the route across the three islands.
Length: about 40 km
Duration: 2-3 hours
Difficulty level: Moderate. The route includes hills. If you need some assistance going up the hills, an electric bike is a great solution.
Route 5 – Tour along the Aurajoentie river road
Embark on a bike ride along the enchanting scenery of the River Aura. The historical route takes you from Turku through four municipalities to the source of the River Aura. There is plenty to see and do along the way.
Length: about 60 km. A total of about 120 km (round trip).
Duration: 1-2 days
Difficulty level: Moderate. Easy terrain, flat
