Down by the Laituri - A festival at the heart of Turku
AN OPEN-MINDED LINE-UP OF ARTISTS AND POP-UP RESTAURANTS TAKES OVER THE SQUARE OF TURKU CATHEDRAL ON THE LAST WEEKEND IN JULY.
This modern music festival is also held in the surroundings of Finland’s only medieval basilica.
Sorry, could you repeat that?
Allow us to explain. This means that for the second time DBTL will bring an adult-oriented music festival in the cultural and historical setting of Turku Cathedral Square and Brahe Park.
Even thought we’ll all miss out on the 2020 festival, it will only make it more certain that 2021 will be the most DBTL summer ever.
The location is too spectacular not to have its own festival, that's why DBTL is investing to make sure the quality and comfort for guests is as high as it can be in every way. The area for food and drink at the festival is a street filled with refreshments, including pop-up bars and eateries from a variety of the city’s favourite restaurants.
Of course, we can’t discuss a festival without discussing music. In 2021, spectator satisfaction is brought by a more open-minded set of performers. In addition to Finnish artists, more and more foreign acts will be seen on stage. In part, the festival also expands under the cathedral arches. Interpretations of stylish classics from leading Finnish artists can be heard from the cathedral.
The location is easily accessible and all the city centre services and hotels are just a short walk away. This also means there’s no need to worry about any congestion getting to and from the area.
From the 29th-31st July, evening twilight draws in earlier but the weather if still warm. Even if you know the area well, it’s probably still astonishing to see it so illuminated at night.
Tickets are already on sale, so let’s get ready to party.
